Which would be the BEST soldering iron to use; No Station!?

I want to purchase a soldering iron, (if you have a site that sells them with the price in British pounds that would be even better )

anyways, i dont wanna spend so much on a solder station and i have been told that you dont have to buy a solder station that its only for temp control, what i wanna know is what would be the BEST soldering iron to buy for doing a few simple jobs
